heading to Israel

After a relaxing three months in Marmaris Turkey, we're getting ready to start moving again. Not the best weather yet, but all we need is a three or four day weather window to make it to Israel. We're all set to go...last engine maintenance finished, meals ready to go in the freezer in case weather is not conducive to cooking, cat has a fresh round of rabies shots and paperwork, friends arrive tomorrow to join us, and if the weather cooperates, we'll clear out of immigration/customs and set sail in the next few days. We'll always have great memories of our time here: fascinating side trips around Egypt and to Turkey, good chance to learn new hobbies and do boat work, but mostly it's been about meeting wonderful people from around the world. Next post will be from Israel, or somewhere on the way there, depending on weather...

Hi Maggie, from Jack! I am learning the recorder too and love it! I can play the Star Spangled Banner and the theme to Sponge Bob;)
I have a weather station and think of you in your boat in the weather!! Keep safe!

Having spent 10 years in DC, we moved onto the boat in June 2012, with the intent of sailing across the Atlantic to the Mediterranean for a year. As of June 2013, we've sailed from the U.S. (Annapolis, Maryland) to Bermuda, then to the Azores, to Lisbon and down the Atlantic coast of Portugal and Spain, through the Straits of Gibraltar, along the southern coast of Spain (with a quick trip to Morocco) to Ibiza, then Sicily, through the Corinth Canal and Greek islands, winter in Turkey, a few weeks in Israel, with a side trip to Egypt. After a month in the Adriatic in spring, we all sailed to the Azores, where mom, cat and kids left by airplane, leaving John and crew to bring the boat back home to the Chesapeake.
